RMX Upgrade
Upgrading the RMX with MPMRx cards involves the following processes:
Process 1: Removing RMX Hardware
— RMX 2000. Remove the Power Supply, Control (CNTL) Unit, Media Card(s) and LAN card(s,
if installed).
— RMX 4000. Remove the Control (CNTL) Unit and Media Card(s).
Process 2: Installing RMX Hardware
— RMX 2000. Install the Power Supply, Control (CNTL) Unit and LAN card(s).
— RMX 4000. Install the Control (CNTL) Unit and Media Card(s).
Process 3: Software Upgrade
Process 4: Install MPMRx card(s) on the RMX 2000/4000
Process 1: Removing RMX Hardware
When handling electronic components, standard anti-static precautions must be observed:
Wear a grounding strap
Handle cards by their edges only and do not touch their components or connector pins
Keep components in anti-static bags, when not installed in the RMX 2000/4000
Remove the following RMX Hardware:
RMX 2000: Remove the Power Supply, Control (CNTL) Unit, Media Card(s) and LAN card(s). For

RMX 4000. Remove the Control (CNTL) Unit and Media Card(s). For more information, see
Removing RMX 4000 Components.
Removing RMX 2000 Components

Power down the RMX 2000.

Disconnect the following cables from the back panel:
— Power cable
— Optional - if LAN card is installed, remove any cables from the LAN card(s)

Remove the following components:
On each component, captive screws must be loosened and ejector lever or levers must be opened.
Care must be taken when opening or closing the All Metal Ejector Lever or Modified PMC
Compatible Ejector Lever as described in "Appendix B - Using the Ejector Lever(s)" below. Ensure
that power to the RMX is turned OFF (O) before performing the procedures described below.
— a: Remove the CNTL unit from the front of the RMX
— b: Remove the Power Supply drawer from the front of the RMX
— c: Remove any media card(s) from the front of the RMX
d:
Optional - if installed, remove the RTM Lan card(s) from the rear of the RMX
Do not remove the RTM IP and RTM ISDN (if installed) cards.
