Zero the transducer in open air.
Press the Start investigation button.
Press the ALT key on the remote control and press the Calibration
begin button. Inflate the balloon in 10 ml increments, until you reach
the maximum volume that you want to inflate it during the investigation.
Press the Calibration end button and empty the balloon.
Press the Stop investigation button. The balloon compliance will be
saved and is used by the next investigation.
During analysis, the software will compensate the rectal pressure with the
pressure built up by the balloon. If you always use the same balloon catheter,
you need to determine the balloon compliance only once.
Measurement
The balloon should now be inflated in 10 ml increments and the
resulting pressure at each step is recorded.
If you want to inflate in increments other than 10 ml, press the pump
up/down keys on the remote control. The inflation step is displayed on
the syringe button on top of the screen.
After inflating the balloon, a 20-second accommodation period should
be provided.
During infusion, the sensation markers can be set by pressing the
appropriate softkey. When the maximum tolerable volume is reached,
the investigation can be stopped, and the balloon can be deflated.
