4. Operation and Controls

4.1. About Operation
Please note the following instructions to ensure conclusive results:
• Hold the device by the probe holder
• Carefully place the device or the probe perpendicular on the surface
• Ensure the probe makes good contact with the surface and avoid the probe shaking
• Do not drag the probe across the coated surface
If the device does not register a measurement or no button is pushed within the amount of time set under
menu „System" > „Power save options", the display will first dim, then the device will switch off. To reduce
unstable measurements, you can set a delay from when the probe is applied and measurement starts. For
the settings, go to menu „Settings" > „Probe" > „Measure"
4.2 Adjustment
The gauge will need to be calibrated before first using it, after replacing the battery, for different measu-
rement jobs, or as necessary. Either use our reference plates or, ideally, a piece of uncoated material being
tested.

Push softkey to start adjustment
On delivery, the Q button is programmed to the function „Start adjustment". You can start the
adjustment directly from the measurement display. The adjustment will then be executed with the
preset parameters.

Calibrating with the incorrect reference plate can reduce accuracy.
