2. Using a one-piece PEEK fitting, connect the (red) insulated, 0.005 in. ID tubing
(supplied) to the inlet port of the 10 mm or 50 mm LightPipe flow cell (see
Figure
15). Tighten the fitting with a 1/4 in. open-end wrench.
Note The insulating sleeve of the inlet tubing minimizes temperature fluctuations,
which cause baseline drift.

Note The 10 mm LightPipe flow cell is the same length as the 50 mm LightPipe flow
cell so that it fits into the retaining block without the need for an adapter.
3. Using a fingertight fitting, connect the other end of the insulated, 0.005 in. ID PEEK
inlet tubing to the LC column outlet.
IMPORTANT If you have several detectors (fluorescence, refractive index,
electrochemical, and so on) hooked up in a series, place your UV/Vis detector closest
to the column outlet. The LightPipe flow cell in the UV/Vis detector can withstand a
higher backpressure than the other flow cells.
Tip For best results, when you run the system at a low backpressure, use a
backpressure regulator to prevent bubble formation in the detector's LightPipe
flow cell.
