Installing a 3.5-inch hard drive adapter into a hot swap hard drive
carrier
Prerequisites
CAUTION:
Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or
telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by
your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.
1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
2. Keep the Phillips #2 screwdriver ready.
3. If installed, remove the front bezel.
4. Install the 2.5-inch hot swappable hard drive into the hot swappable hard drive adapter.
Steps
1. Insert the 3.5-inch hard drive adapter into the hot swappable hard drive carrier with the connector end of the hard drive
toward the back of the hot swappable hard drive carrier.
2. Align the screw holes on the hard drive with the holes on the hot swappable hard drive carrier.
3. Install the screws to secure the hot swappable hard drive to the hot swappable hard drive carrier.
