Apply pressure to the back top portion of the main valve assembly.
The valve falls into the maincase. See Figure 47.

With the main valve assembly removed, you can inspect the
integrity of the main valve seat and spring.

Clean off any machined surfaces in the maincase that might have
build up.
When performing maintenance on the main valve assem-
bly, appropriate safety measures must be taken. The
main valve spring is under tension and disassembling
the valve assembly can cause bodily harm.
To replace the main valve assembly, complete the following steps.

Place the main valve assembly back in the maincase, then push it
toward the inlet side of the meter. See Figure 48.

Attach the main valve snap ring, turning it within the groove inside
the maincase. See Figure 49.
The brass is sharp. Handle with care or wear durable
gloves to avoid cuts and abrasions.

Check and make sure the main valve snap ring is in the groove.
