Installation and Setup

EIA-530 Card Installation

The optional EIA-530 card mates with the base card via the three sets of pins that make up connector
A2J1. It can be oriented in either of two positions as shown in
position, the 530 card provides an EIA-530 interface. In the other position it acts as a jumper so that
the V.35 interface can operate.
When the plug-in card is not purchased with the unit, or if it is removed, there must be jumpers or
a program plug on the A and B pins of connector A2J1. The channel interface cannot function if
those pins are left open.
Jumper X1, Network Port Span Power:
Pins 1 + 2: Power not looped to span (Default)
Pins 2 + 3: Power looped to span

Note
The SC 553 is not equipped to supply span power. The span power option jumper [X1] shown in
2-5
functions to provide compatibility with spans that are/are not powered from another source. The typ-
ical position for X1 is OUT (i.e., not looped).
