Alarm Configuration

The Alarm Configuration Menu screen shown in
the Alarm Configuration function from the Main Menu.
The Alarm Configuration function determines which alarms the DSU is to report. The function is
divided into two screens: Alarm Mask Configuration and Alarm Threshold Configuration. In the
Alarm Mask Configuration screen you designate which alarms the unit reports (Unmask) and which
alarms it does not report (Mask). Definitions of the alarm conditions appear in Appendix C, Alarm
Definitions .
In the Alarm Threshold Configuration screen you set conditions for the reporting of three network
alarms. Network BPV, CRC, and LAD alarms, when they are to be reported, are determined by
means of a window and a threshold. The window is the time span during which the number of alarm
events must equal or exceed the threshold value in order to cause an alarm.
