Installation and Setup
To enable the EIA-530 interface, install the plug-in
card in this position on the A2J1 connectors:
Connections:
J2 to A1 - A32
J3 to B1 - B32
J1 to C1 - C13
J5 and J4 are not used.

To bypass the EIA-530 interface, install the plug-in
card in this position on the A2J1 connectors:
Connections:
J4 to A1 - A32
J5 to B1 - B32
J1 to C1 - C13
J1, J2, and J3 are not used.

Network Connection
In a MultiPak enclosure network connection is made at the upper of the two RJ48 jacks for the slot
that contains the SC 553 DSU.
In an SC 2000 shelf network connection is made at the NTWK A RJ48 jack for the slot that contains
the SC 553 DSU.
Zone 1 of an SC 5000 shelf back panel has either 16 RJ48 jacks, labeled J17 through J32, or three
50-pin connectors, labeled J17 through J19 for network interface connections.
On the dual RJ48 back panel J17 corresponds to shelf slot 1 and J32 corresponds to shelf slot 16, as
shown in
Figure
using a straight-through cable terminated with an RJ48S modular plug. The pin assignments for the
network interface jacks are shown in Appendix B, Interface Signals ,
On the 50-pin connector back panel, J17 supports network interface connections for slots 1–6, J18
supports slots 7–13, and J19 supports slots 14–16. The Appendix B, Interface Signals ,
shows the connector and pins an SC 553 DSU employs when installed in each slot.

There are jumpers on A2J1, Pins
A1 - A32 and Pins B1 - B32 when the
optional plug-in card is not present.
