Gain Scheduling is used to improve the control of non-linear processes where the

non-linearity is fixed, i.e. not time-dependent. Processes with time-dependent
non-linearity must be controlled by a PID controller with adaptive PID settings.
In Gain Scheduling the controller uses different PID parameters according to the
value of a user selected reference signal, GainSchedulingSignal.
Three different settings for PID parameters can be used, within three ranges
defined by the user defined parameters Limit1 and Limit2 which are expressed as
a percentage of GainSchedulingSignal. When the value of GainSchedulingSignal
passes one limit the next set of PID parameters is switched in.
If the Gain Scheduler is reset, the next time the Autotuner is used all three
parameter sets in the PID Parameters section will be filled in the same way as
when Gain Scheduling was first selected.
The three sets of PID parameters can be inserted into the parameter table in two
different ways:
• Via autotuning (normal method).
• Manually.
