2.27 EUCN Cable System

Introduction

The Enhanced Universal Control Network (EUCN) provides communication between the Enhanced
High-Performance Process Manager Modules (EHPMs) and the Enhanced Network Interface Module
(ENIM) on the LCN as illustrated in the following figure.
ATTENTION
With TPN R686, the Enhanced Network Bridge (ENB) is introduced. The ENB is a variant of the
NIM that allows communication between the LCN and both UCN and EUCN networks. It can
communicate over coaxial-based UCN and FTE-based EUCN communication networks and
provides a gateway function between the UCN and the EUCN. The ENB also facilitates on-
process migration from HPM to EHPM (assuming you have redundant HPMs). For more
information, see section "Cable troubleshooting guidelines for EUCN" on page 147.
