Line cord conduit

Preparing the system to remove and replace a line cord conduit from the 9080-M9S
system node
To prepare the system to remove and replace a line cord conduit, complete the steps in this procedure.
Procedure
1. Optional: If the customer requires the system to be powered off before beginning the procedure, have
the customer perform the following steps. Otherwise, continue to step "2" on page 1.
a) All the active logical partitions must be shut down before powering off the system. To shut down
logical partitions for a specific system, complete the following steps:
1) In the navigation area, click the Resources icon
2) Click the system name for which you want to shut down logical partitions.
3) Select the logical partitions that you want to shut down.
4) In the content pane, click Actions > Shut Down.
5) Click OK.
b) To power off the system, complete the following steps:
1) In the navigation area, click the Resources icon
2) Select the system that you want to power off.
3) In the content pane, click System Actions > Operations > Power Off.
4) Click OK.
2. Attach the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap.
The ESD wrist strap must be connected to an unpainted metal surface until the service procedure is
completed, and if applicable, until the service access cover is replaced.
Attention:
• Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap to the front ESD jack, to the rear ESD jack,
or to an unpainted metal surface of your hardware to prevent the electrostatic discharge from
damaging your hardware.
• When you use an ESD wrist strap, follow all electrical safety procedures. An ESD wrist strap is
used for static control. It does not increase or decrease your risk of receiving electric shock
when using or working on electrical equipment.
• If you do not have an ESD wrist strap, just prior to removing the product from ESD packaging
and installing or replacing hardware, touch an unpainted metal surface of the system for a
minimum of 5 seconds. If at any point in this service process you move away from the
system, it is important to again discharge yourself by touching an unpainted metal surface for
at least 5 seconds before you continue with the service process.
