Lane Keep Assist

1
General Safety Instructions
Lack of attention
WARNING
The system has a limited ability to help the driver
keep the vehicle in its lane, but it does not drive it-
self. The driver remains responsible at all times when
driving, such as staying in the lane, even if the sys-
tem is active. The system does not replace the driv-
er's attentiveness.
e Drive especially carefully and keep your hands on
the steering wheel at all times in order to always
be ready to steer.
e Always pay attention to the traffic situation and
the vehicle surroundings.
e If a warning appears on the instrument cluster,
take over control of the vehicle immediately.
e Adapt your driving speed to road and weather
conditions.
e Do not attach any objects to the steering wheel.
No or very little steering
WARNING
intervention
In the event of heavy braking, corrective steering in-
tervention might not take place. Likewise, in the
case of active steering by the driver, corrective
steering intervention may be reduced or not take
1.

Insufficient corrective
WARNING
steering intervention
Corrective steering intervention alone may not be
sufficient to keep the vehicle in the driving lane in
the case of track ruts, winding roads, inclined road
surfaces or a crosswind.
e In such situations, assist by steering actively.
e Drive with extreme care.
e Always hold the steering wheel with both hands.
Information
e If there is a fault in the system or if Lane Keep
Assist does not function as described in this
section, do not use Lane Keep Assist. Visit an
authorized Porsche dealer.
Porsche recommends an authorized Porsche
dealer, as they have trained technicians and the
necessary parts and tools.
System limitations
Physical limits and sys-
WARNING
tem limits
In some situations, the system may not detect the
lane correctly, corrective steering intervention may
not be enough to keep the vehicle in the lane or the
function may change suddenly from active to pas-
sive. There is a risk of accident! Such situations
include:
– When increased attention is required on the part
of the driver
– During sporty driving
– In adverse weather conditions (e.g. fog, snow or
heavy rain)
– In unfavorable road conditions (including bad
roads, pot holes and dirty road surface)
– In areas with road construction
– When approaching humps and dips
– In urban traffic
– On winding and narrow country roads
e Do not use the system in these situations.
Obscured camera view
WARNING
The camera's view can be impaired by different in-
fluencing factors (e.g. rain, snow, ice, heavy water
spray, oncoming headlights or damage). Sometimes,
the camera cannot detect the lane markings, or
cannot detect them correctly. When this happens,
no steering intervention or an unexpected steering
intervention can occur. Steering intervention can
only take place on the side where a lane marking has
been detected. Other road structures or objects may
be incorrectly identified as lane markings as well.
