6.7.2.3. Bolted connections

Material requirements
Use stainless steel bolts and nuts with the appropriate steel grade and property
class for the connection (recommended: A2-70 [designation according to
ISO 3506]).
Nuts with bonded coating can be used as an alternative to uncoated stainless steel
nuts.
Connection type
The following connection type is recommended when a cable lug
(Fig. 6-19: 4) is connected to a busbar:
Spring washer (Fig. 6-19: 1) and flat washer (Fig. 6-19: 2) on each side of the
busbar (Fig. 6-19: 3).
Other washers can be used, provided they maintain the required contact
pressure.
Use cable lugs suitable for M12 bolts.

Lubrication
If stainless steel bolts and nuts are used, lubricate the thread and head contact
surface of the bolt using recommended pasts, eg, Molykote D paste.
If a coated nut (eg, with bonded molybdenum-disulfide [MoS
the connection does not have to be lubricated.
Tightening torque
Tighten bolted connections with bolts of sizes M10 and greater with the
recommended nominal torque for the bolt size used.
