Slide paper
around platen and align
for
straight feed-
ing
by using left or right
edge of
upper
form (in front
of
platen) with
lower form.
If paper
resists sliding
around
platen, move paper
release
lever
to rear
and
use platen knobs
to roll
paper
around
platen.
(If pin-feed platen, place
form on
pins with left
edges of form aligned.)

Move paper release lever
(E) and
paper bail
(F) to-
ward rear
of
unit.
(If
pin-feed platen,
leave release
lever
open.)
7.
Position form
for
proper registration by using line
gage
as guide.
Press left platen
knob (G) in and
rotate
for
vernier
adjustment.
(Use
right platen

knob
(H)
if pin-feed platen.)
8.
Close cover of prin ter.
9.
As
printing occurs, the
first several

guided for proper
stacking.
CHANGING THE RIBBON
1.

Position the print-element
carrier to center of line
by using TAB
or
SPACE.

Raise top cover
of
printer to latched position. (If
1816,
also
tilt hinged
front
panel

Move ribbon
change
lever (A)
to extreme right.
4.
Lift ribbon cartridge (B) straight up
and ease
ribbon
out of
slots in
ribbon
guides
(C).
Excess ribbon
can
be rewound by inserting a pencil in
either cartridge
hole and turning in direction of arrow.
5.
Position
new cartridge with
exposed ribbon facing
platen.
6.
Slide
ribbon through slots
in
ribbon
guides (C).
