Figure 7 shows the connection of two optical single-fiber rings via a SIMATIC NET optical link
module operated in the single-fiber ring on the left of the picture as a 'passive node' and in the
single-fiber ring on the right of the picture as an 'Active Node'.
The optical single-fiber ring on the right in the picture is therefore an extension of the optical
single-fiber ring on the left of the picture. Within both optical single-fiber rings, you can, therefore,
only connect passive nodes.
