LINES
DIAL MODE
Identifies information lines as touch-tone or
rotary. You may also need to adjust the
Rotary Dialing Timeout (#108).

DIAL 1=Touch-Tone

PRESS [Next Item] to program another line
HOLD DISCONNECT TIME
Selects the signal that the system uses to
detect when a caller on hold hangs up.
Change the setting to "long" if the system
disconnects callers on hold before they
hang up, or to "short" if user gets a dial tone
when trying to retrieve calls on hold.

LINE ASSIGNMENT
Assigns the outside lines that are available
at an extension, in consecutive order. The
order of line assignment is from left to
right, starting with the bottom row of line
buttons on a system phone. To put the
lines in a different order, first use this
procedure to unassign all lines; then
assign lines in the desired order (as you
assign each line, it goes onto the first
available button).

RESTRICTS CALLING ON INDIVIDUAL LINES

Identifies the language used in display
messages on an MLS-12D or MLS-34D
phone at the extension.

AUTOMATIC EXTENSION PRIVACY
Prevents other extensions from joining a
call on a specified extension. For example,
use this procedure to prevent users from
interrupting calls on a extension with a
fax machine or modem.

EXTENSIONS
ABBREVIATED RINGING
Determines whether a call rings repeat-
edly at an extension when the extension is
busy on another call. If Abbreviated
Ringing is on and you are busy on a call,
the call rings once; the green button for
the line continues to flash until you answer
the call or the caller hangs up.

2=Not Active (Off—repeated
ringing)

TRANSFER RETURN EXTENSION
Identifies where transfered calls should
go if the extension receiving the transfer
does not answer. (Useful for extensions
with auto attendants, so the caller only
hears the device's greetings once.)
