Troubleshooting
•
Insufficient air flow to engine
– air filter blocked
•
Faulty injectors
3. Coolant temperature too high
CAUSE
•
Coolant level in engine too low (air in system)
•
Faulty thermostat
•
Clogged radiator and/or charge air cooler (TAD)
•
Faulty circulation pump
•
Faulty temperature gauge/sensor
•
Faulty setting of injection angle
4. Coolant temperature too low
CAUSE
•
Faulty thermostat
5. Engine does not reach correct speed at wide open throttle
CAUSE
•
Engine overloaded
•
Insufficient fuel flow
– fuel filters clogged (due to contaminants/kerosene
precipitation in the fuel as a result of low outside temperature) Bleed the system. See "Fuel system, bleeding".
•
Water in fuel
•
Insufficient air flow to engine
– faulty injector(s)
– air leak between turbo and engine's inlet manifold
– faulty turbo charger
– poor engine room ventilation
•
Accelerator incorrectly adjusted
•
Excessive back pressure in exhaust system

Fit new air filter or clean the air filter. Check ventilation to
engine room.
Check/replace injector(s).
REMEDY
Fill the engine with coolant and vent the system See "Cool-
ant, filling".
Install a new thermostat
Clean See "Cleaning cooling system".
Overhaul/replace the circulation pump.
Check/replace temperature gauge/sensor
Check/adjust the injection angle.
REMEDY
Install a new thermostat
REMEDY
If possible reduce the load
Fit new fuel filters (pre-filters and/or fine filters).
Clean fuel tank. Drain water from pre-filter, if any.
Fit new air filter/clean air filter
Check the rubber hose between turbo and the connecting
pipe, plus other connections. Tighten the hose clips.
Clean the compressor assembly. Overhaul the turbo com-
pressor if needed.
Check that the ventilation ducts to the engine room are not
blocked.
Adjust the accelerator.
Check that the exhaust pipe is not restricted in any way.
