Cleaning the Steam Wand Thoroughly

NOTE
For maintaining a good performance and avoiding a stale taste of the milk, we
recommend to perform the following method at least at the end of the day.
1. After usage, leave the steam wand cool down completely.
2. Remove the black sleeve by pulling it down. Clean the stainless steel tube of the
steam wand using a clean cloth moistened with warm dishwater.
3. Clean the black sleeve using a small bottle brush and warm dishwater. Rinse
thoroughly with clear water.
4. Fill some hot dishwater into a sufficient high vessel and insert the steam wand
into the dishwater. Leave the steam wand soak for 10 - 20 minutes.
5. Take the steam wand out of the solution. The nozzle at the tip of the steam wand
is a small hole. If required, insert a needle or thin wire carefully into the nozzle
to remove any obstacles.
6. Wipe the tube of the steam wand via a soft moistened cloth for removing any
remaining residues of milk.
7. Prepare the appliance for operation (see: 'Operation / Preparing the Appliance
for Operation'). Wait until the espresso indicator illuminates. Insert the steam
wand into a sufficiently high, heat-resistant vessel.
8. Keep your hands away from the steam wand and turn the steam dial counter-
clockwise to the stop. Then press the espresso button to give off hot water
for purging the opening in the steam wand tip. Let the appliance operate for
approx. 5 seconds. Then press the espresso button again to stop the water flow.
