The CP field bus node CP-FB8 documented in this ma- nual is designated exclusively for use as a slave on the RIO network of Allen-Bradley. Festo CP modules can be connected to the field bus node CP-FB8. If used with additional commercially-available components such as sensors and actuators, the specified limit values for pressures, temperatures, electrical data, moments, etc.
Contents and general safety instructions Important user instructions Danger This manual contains instructions on the dangers which categories may occur if the CP system is not used correctly. These instructions are always printed in italics, are framed and also marked with a pictogram. A distinction is made between the following: WARNING This means that personal injury or damage to...

1. Installation PLEASE NOTE RIO addresses may only be assigned once per Scanner module. Setting the Only clear assignment of the RIO addresses will guar- address antee a faultless NOMINAL/ACTUAL comparison during the configuration run. We recommend that the RIO ad- dresses be assigned in ascending order.

By using PELV power units, protection against electric shock (protection against direct and indirect contact) in accordance with EN 60204-1/IEC 204 is guaranteed on Festo valve terminals. Safety transformers with the adjacent designation must be used for supplying PELV networks. The valve termi- nals must be earthed in order to ensure their function (e.g.
2. Commissioning 2.1 Preparing the CP system for operation on the RIO network 2.1.1 Operating voltage PLEASE NOTE • The CP field bus node must have a separate operating voltage supply. 2.1.2 Saving the line assignment PLEASE NOTE Before commissioning the CP system you must first prepare it for commissioning (see "CP system"...
2. Commissioning 2.2 Preparing the RIO network 2.2.1 Compiling the configuration list Configuration Configuration of the CP system requires an accurate list procedure, as different configuration specifications are sometimes necessary for each system due to the modular structure. Before commissioning or programm- ing you should therefore compile a configuration list of all connected field bus slaves.
2. Commissioning 2.2.2 Address assignment of the CP system Please observe the following when using the CP sys- tem on the Allen-Bradley RIO network: Configuration The CP system reacts on the RIO network like a remote I/O block from Allen-Bradley. Note the different configuration of the CP system in the RIO network: CP system Assigned address range...
2. Commissioning 2.2.3 Addressing PLEASE NOTE Further specifications on addressing and programm- ing can be found in the PLC manual from A-B. The inputs/outputs of the CP system are addressed as quarter or half racks like a remote I/O block from A-B. Addressing is composed as follows: O:xxy/zz "...
2. Commissioning 2.2.4 Assignment of input/output addresses of the CP system to A-B I/O addresses In the following example the CP system has field bus address 4. I or O address Input and output A-B designation addresses of CP system e.g.
2. Commissioning 2.2.5 Addressing possibilities of PLC family PLEASE NOTE • With a baud rate of 115.2 kBaud all unused chassis must be set to OFF via SD2. The LED display for "Chassis" lights up red (= inactive) on the SD or SD2 adapter. Data transmission functions correctly.
