How reliable is the blood pressure measurement with your device
in the case of cardiac arrhythmia?
Your blood pressure meter is generally suitable for measuring blood pressure
even in the presence of cardiac arrhythmias, because the measurement algo-
rithm filters these out.
In the case of severe cardiac arrhythmias, however, the blood pressure mea-
surement may be affected because in the worst case there is permanent inter-
ference with the blood pressure signal.
If you occasionally suffer from cardiac arrhythmias, we recommend that you
carry out an ECG diagnostic after each blood pressure measurement to com-
pletely rule out any measuring error. If the ECG confirms acute cardiac arrhyth-
mia, repeat the blood pressure measurement after about 5–10 minutes.

7. Recording an ECG

There are two different methods used to record the ECG. Start with method 1
'Right index finger – chest'. If you cannot record an ECG, or the ECG is unstable
(error message 'EE' frequently shown), change to method 2 'Left hand – right
hand'.
Depending on the user's specific heart configuration (shape of the heart), the
type or approach described in one of the methods indicated will be suitable. If
you cannot record any stable measurements using a particular method, it may
simply be due to harmless causes such as the heart shape but it may also be due
to pathological reasons.
Method 2 is very comfortable but the measurement stability is higher for
method 1.
Ensure that there is no skin contact between your right and left hands
(method 2) or your hand and chest (method 1). The recording will not be
carried out correctly if this is the case. Do not move during the recording,
do not speak and hold the device still. Movements of any type will distort
the recordings.
Keep the pressure during the recording steady. Do not press the
electrodes too firmly on the skin because the muscle tension that results
may lead to imprecise measured values.
Method 1: Right index finger – chest
Hold the device in your right hand. Place your right index finger as illustrated
on the upper electrodes (Fig. 1).
