Installing and Replacing Optional Devices
This section describes procedures to add/remove optional devices and replace failed components.

Precautions

Observe the following notes to install or remove optional devices safely and properly.

system.
If the optional device is added, removed, and replaced according to the
procedures other than that described in this chapter, NEC does not assume any
liability for the damages to the device and parts, and for the effect on the result
of the operation. You will be charged even within the warranty period.
Be sure to observe the following precautions to use the server safety. Failure to
observe the precautions may cause death or serious injury. For details, refer to Safety
precautions in Precautions for Use.
Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the server.
Do not look into the optical disk drive.
Do not remove the lithium battery, NiMH battery, or Li-ion battery.
Be sure to observe the following precautions to use the server safely. Failure to
observe the precautions may cause burns, injury, and property damage. For details,
refer to Safety precautions in Precautions for Use in User's Guide.
Do not install CPU/IO module with its cover removed.
Make sure to complete component installation.
Do not pinch your finger(s).
Pay attention to hot components.
