Storage
3.4.1
On-board SSD
The PCIE-7217 card comes optionally configured with two PCIe-based (Gen3 x4)
soldered-down SSDs, one for each processor. If installed, these SSDs provide up to 256GB
of storage. Some variants of the PCIE-7217 do not have on-board SSD memory.
3.4.2
Socketed (M.2) SSD
Each processor has a dedicated M.2 socket for additional SSD drives. Both SATA and
PCIe-based (Gen3 x4; AHCI and NVME) SSD modules are supported in the standard sizes
(2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110; single and dual-sided).
3.5
Ethernet Controller
Each processor on the PCIE-7217 may connect to an optional Ethernet switch through a
Gen1 x1 PCIe link on each PCH (1000BASE-KX mode [1Gbps]).
3.6
USB
The USB2.0 ports of the processors are utilized as follows:
One USB2.0 port is available for each CPU through a microUSB connector at the
PCIE-7217 face plate as a regular USB port to connect USB devices.
A second USB2.0 port is only available if the PCIE-7217 is installed in an MC4100
chassis and is selected as the mCPU. In this case, it connects to the MC4100 BMC
and supports the Remote Media function.
Another USB2.0 port is only available if the PCIE-7217 is installed in an MC4100
chassis and is operated in slot 1 or slot 15. In this case, it may be configured to
connect to the I/O panel of the system and provides a respective USB port on the
I/O panel.
3.7
UART (COM port)
The processors include an integrated dual UART controller.
