PCIE-7217 Card Installation and Removal
This section contains the PCIE-7217 card installation and removal procedures.
2.5.1
PCIE-7217 Card Installation
Before removing the system housing cover, make sure that the system is shut down
and disconnected from AC power.
To install the PCIE-7217 card, perform the following steps:
1. Make sure you are working in an ESD-safe environment. For more details, refer to
Prevention on page
2. Identify the system in which the PCIE-7217 card is to be installed.
3. Shut down the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the shelf
from the power source through the Board Management Controller (BMC) or by
pressing the power button.
4. If present, remove the filler panels in the PCIe slots.
5. Insert the PCIE-7217 card into the PCIe slot, making sure the card is properly aligned
in the slot.
NOTE: When installing or removing PCIe cards, use a vertical plane of motion to prevent
collision with neighboring cards or the chassis.
Pin Damage
If the card is not fully aligned with the interface in the backplane, too much force may
twist the pins on the card or backplane. Do not exert heavy force when inserting the
card.
6. Secure the card in the system using the screws provided.

7. Fill the empty PCIe slots adjacent to the PCIE-7217 with other PCIe cards or filler cards
for optimal cooling.
