15.6. Web Page "Refresh List" Does Not Find Slave Supplies

When you are using a LAN Multi-drop chain of supplies (see section 12), the web page
Refresh List button should detect all the connected RS-485 slave supplies. If it does not:
A. Verify the LAN master is set for RS-232. That is, verify the rear panel dip switch
SW1 bit 6 is DOWN.
B. Verify all slave supplies are set for RS-485. That is, verify the rear panel dip switch
SW1 bit 6 are UP.
C. Verify all slave supplies are set for unique addresses and they are set for 19.2K Baud.
Do this by pressing each of the front panel REM/LOC buttons.
D. Verify the RS-485 linking cables are made correctly. A standard 8-wire Ethernet cable
will not be reliable for a larger number of supplies in the chain. The proper linking cable
only uses five wires. See the section "Multi Power Supply Connection to RS232 or
RS485 Bus" in the Genesys™ User Manual.

15.7. Cannot Connect Using Hostname

If the power supply's IP address is set to "Static IP", you cannot use the hostname address
with the Genesys™ LAN.
With DHCP or Auto-IP addressing, to use the hostname address, the DNS or some other
naming service must be running in your computer or network server.
For Windows XP,
A. Right-click on "My Network Places". Select "Properties". See window open.
B. Right-click on the network connection being used for the Genesys™ LAN.
Select "Properties". See window open.
C. Verify NetBIOS naming service is checked.
If the power supply has a static address or the computer is not running NetBIOS, then
hostname addressing may be used if you edit the "hosts" file in the network server.
In Windows 7, see the hosts text file in "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc"
