6.4. Passage of two persons with a single ticket
•
Typical situation presented in direction A. When the PNG gate is in stand-by mode:
Obstacles open (PNG/NO) or closed (PNG/NC).
Message "Insert card" displayed on the function pictogram (option).
1.
Inserting a valid ticket into the reader causes the walkway to open in a "Normally Closed"
configuration, and the green arrow is illuminated on the function pictogram, allowing the passage
of one person through the gateway within a period of 15 seconds.
2.
Passing cells C1, C2 and C3 causes the green arrow on the function pictogram to change into a
red cross. After the authorised person passes the couting zone, the passage of a second person
in front of the cells C1 to C6 triggers a sound alarm. In addition to the sound warning and the
alarm contact, the walkway closes immediately and so prevents any other passage.
3.
The alarm is shut off after a pre-determined time-out (typically one second) when all cells (C1 to
C6) have become inactive.
4.
In the exit direction (direction B), the operation principle is identical.
Additional characteristics:
In a "No passage authorisation storage" configuration, card reading is impossible as long as the previous
user has not passed the counting zone. In a "Passage authorisation storage" configuration, card reading is
always possible, whatever the system cycle.
It is possible to lock the gate in the closed position using a remote control facility (optional).
In a bidirectional configuration where passage is allowed simultaneously in both directions, the red cross is
illuminated on the function pictogram during a passage in the opposite direction.
•
Practical situation:
Two users enter the walkway after validating one single ticket: if the "tailgating" fraud detection before
passage of the doors is not activated (Fig. 22 a), the first one can go through the obstacle; but the PNG
is set to alarm status before the second one clears the obstacles and the doors close if nobody stands
before the safety cells (see chapter [6.3. Passage of one person]). On the other hand, if the "tailgating"
fraud detection before passage of doors is activated (Fig. 22 b), the doors will close before the first
person can go through, except if the safety group is activated.
