Cleaning the Scanner Tip

For intraoral scanning systems only.
The following instructions are for the removable tip of the scanner. It is not for the entire scanner.
See "Cleaning the System" on page 10 for cleaning the base of the scanner.
The scanning tips have been manufactured and tested for specific disinfection protocols. Operational,
maintenance and replacement instructions should be followed for the product to perform as
designed. Cleaning the scanner tip incorrectly may result in incomplete disinfection and/or
permanent damage to the tip.
DO NOT use a chemical sterilant on tips with the autoclave symbol.
DO NOT place in Ultrasonic Cleaner.
DO NOT pouch with other instruments.
DO NOT stack the tips near or on any other metal instruments.
Excessive cycle times may prematurely reduce the life and function of the tip.

Remove the scanner tip from the scanner.

Rinse and brush the external surface of the tip under warm running water (3-3.5L/min @ 30°-35°C [86°-95°F])
for a minimum of 15 seconds, with emphasis on the tip alignment indicator. Use a soft bristled brush, like a soft
toothbrush.
To prevent scratches, avoid brushing the mirror.
A typical water faucet should be able to produce a flow rate of between 4-8 Lpm.

Rinse and brush around the edge and surrounding crevices of the mirror under running water for a minimum
To avoid scratching the mirror, use a soft bristled brush. Be careful that only the bristles are
of 30 seconds.

crevice edges of the mirror. (ex. Pinn-Point Brush 933-0321 shown)

After brushing, rinse the mirror and surrounding crevices under running water for an additional 15 seconds.

If there is any visible debris remaining after performing the cleaning steps above, repeat the process as necessary
until the tip is visually clean. If there is any debris that cannot be removed or, if there is visible deterioration such
as cracks or discoloration, the tip should be properly disposed of and replaced.
