1) The inhibition time-out is elapsed.
• If the ignition had remained ON : the lamp starts blinking at 2Hz, in order to let the user know he may again try
to enter the PIN.
• If the ignition is OFF : a rising edge on the ignition, with a correct key, will allow the engine cranking.
If the key can not be read, or is unknown, the inhibition time-out is reinitialized and the lamp is off.
2) The inhibition is toll active with the ignition ON :
• the user turn the IGN OFF/ON with a key that can be read and is known : The inhibition is deactivated, and
number of PIN wrong entries is rest. Engine cranking is allowed.
• the key can not be read or is unknown : the inhibition time-out is re-initialized, and engine cranking not
allowed. By leaving the ignition ON long enough to let the time-out elapse, we are sent back to "a)" of Notice.
3) When the number of wrong PIN entries is less than 5, there is no inhibition.
Therefore, when the user turns the ignition ON :
• the key can be read and is known : the counter of wrong PIN entries is reset, and engine cranking is allowed.
• the key can not be read or is unknown : the lamp flashes at 2Hz, duty cycle=0.5..
4) While the PIN is being entered, the ICU is locked. Therefore, the ECM may continuously send its request to the
ICU : in that case, when the user enters the correct PIN, the ICU becomes unlocked and answers the ECM
request with unlocked status, and turns the lamp off : the lamp blinking will not be visible!
