Description and operation
Exterior lights
Exterior lights consist of six lighting systems: headlights, turn-signal lights, position lights, hazard lights, brake
lights, and license plate lights (rear only). Six systems include left and right headlight and combination light
assemblies, left and right rear combination light assemblies, a rear high-mounted brake light assembly, and two
license plate light assemblies (for rear license only). All lights are powered by 12-volt electrical system.
Combination light assembly (Rear)
Rear combination light assembly is aerodynamically shaped to follow body contours. Lens is three-colored:
amber (hazard/turn signal), translucent (backup) and red (tail/brake). Rear combination light assembly contains
three bulbs. Two bulbsare single-filament and are used in hazard/turn signal and backup light circuits. Third
bulb is a dual filament bulb; one filament functions as brake light and other as tail light. A plastic bulb holder
mounts three lamps and associated wiring.
Headlight and positionlight/Turn signal light assembly
Headlight/combination light assembly is aerodynamically shaped to match contours of body.
High-mounted brake light assembly
High-mounted brake light assembly is mounted on package tray assembly. Lens is red and is visible through
rear window. Assembly has one bulb. Two screws attach a cover. Cover is removed for access to bulb. Light is
turned on/off by a brake light switch mounted near brake pedal and actuated by movement of brake pedal.
License plate light assembly
Two license plate light assemblies are installed in rear bumper above license plate mount. Each light assembly
has one bulb. Both bulbs are turned on when headlights and position lights (parking lights) are on. Each bulb is
protected by a translucent plastic lens attached with two screws. Bulb can be removed/installed by removing
two screws and plastic lens.
