7 Operation of DRM-884

DRM-884 can be operated via a computer connected to the same
network and via the extensions DRM-884RC, DRM-884VP and
DRM-884VAP .

7.1 Control program

DRM-884 is operated via the computer by means of the control
program under the operating system Windows 7 or a later version .
A software package can be downloaded from the Monacor web-
site (www .monacor .com
program DRM-884 V... .exe with its entire directory to the computer
connected to DRM-884 via the network and start it from the computer .
When the program file DRM-884...exe is started, the following
window for selecting the corresponding network topology will appear
(
 chapter 4 .6 .6) . Click "Enter" to confirm:

Daisy Chain Network Mode
Multiple DRM-884 devices are directly connected via their RC-NET
jacks (10) . Adjustment of the extensions DRM-884RC, DRM-884VP,
DRM-884VAP and DRM-884IOP is only possible in this mode . There-
fore, the "Daisy Chain Network Mode" must always be used for
configuring the extensions connected to DRM-884, even if the matrix
routers are actually connected in the star mode .
Star Network Mode
Multiple DRM-884 devices are interconnected in the star mode via
a router .
7.2 Device constellation (Daisy Chain Network)
In the "Daisy Chain Network Mode", the constellation of the devices
used can be shown . To do this, drag the names of the devices used
from the "Config Device List" and drop them in the area on the right
(fig . 15) . The device is shown as a block which can be placed as desired
by means of the mouse . The block contains the device name, the de-
vice ID, the type name of the device and a picture . The device name is
identical to the type name at first, but it can be changed individually .
To show additional components, e . g . audio sources or amplifier
systems, the elements "Left Label" and "Right Label" are available
on the list . These elements can be placed and marked accordingly .
To delete a component from the view, click the block with the
right mouse button and select the option "delete module" .
Each device of the DRM-884 series requires its own device ID
within the system . This ID cannot be selected as desired; it is assigned
by the corresponding master device DRM-884 and indicated on the
display of the extension device . The ID is assigned according to the
following principle: The ID of the first DRM-884 is 1000 . Extensions
connected to its jack RD 9/10 (11, at the top) are assigned ID 1050 .

Extensions connected to its jack RD 11/12 (11, at the bottom) are
assigned ID 1060 . Thus, the device ID can also be determined for
the extension DRM-884IOP which does not have a display . Multiple
DMR-884VP modules connected in series will have consecutive IDs .

Enter the correct device ID for all components in the view:
1) Click the corresponding block with the right mouse button .
2) Select the option "Change Device ID" .
3) Enter the correct device ID and confirm .
To connect the program to the devices, click the button "Connect" .
(Figure 15 shows an example where the connection has already been
made . This is why the option "Disconnect" is shown instead of "Con-
nect" .) When the message "Remote device ip is empty or invalid"
appears, search for the connection: Click "Setup" . The following
window will appear:
Fig. 16 Device Scan (Daisy Chain Network Mode)
1) Click "Scan" . The network will be searched and all DRM-884 de-
vices found which are directly connected to the network will be
listed with their network addresses .
2) Select the device to be connected from the list .
3) Click "Apply" . The window will disappear .
4) In the window with the device constellation displayed (fig . 15),
click "Connect" .
Note: The figure shows an example where the connection has already been
made . This is why the option "Disconnect" is shown instead of "Connect" .
After successful connection, the field "Status" is green and the device
names in the blocks of all devices interconnected are also highlighted
in green . "Connect" will change to "Disconnect", allowing the con-
nection to be disconnected .
To change the settings of the devices connected, double-click the
blocks . A configuration window corresponding to the device type
will appear . The description of the configuration options of DRM-884
starts in chapter 7 .5 . The configuration options of the extensions can
be found in chapters 8 to 10 .
