4.4 Remote control via RS-232

Various functions of DRM-884 can be remote-controlled via the RS-
232 interface . Connect the controller to the pin connector RS232
(12) via the plug-in screw terminals provided . The pin configuration
is as follows:
G = Ground
R = Receive Data
T
= Transmit Data
The interface of DRM-884 is preset to the following values:
Fig. 5 RS-232 interface parameters
To change the interface parameters, call up the network settings via
a web browser (
chapter 7 .4) and call up the configuration page
"UART Control" via the menu on the left (fig . 5) . Click "Update" to
save any changes to the device . The control commands are listed in
the table in chapter 12 .

4.5 Computer

DRM-884 is equipped with an Ethernet connection . This allows con-
figuration via a computer .
Always make sure that the switch LAN / RC-NET (9) is in the position
"LAN" before making the Ethernet connection; otherwise, the net-
work components to be connected (e . g . router) may be damaged .
Use a CAT-5e network cable (or a cable of higher category) to connect
the RJ45 jack LAN (8) to the Ethernet connector of a router, Ethernet
switch or directly to a computer . The interface of DRM-884 is preset
to automatic configuration by a DHCP server in the network (e . g . in
the router) . Alternatively, set a fixed IP address via the web interface
DRM-884 (
 chapter 7 .4) .

4.6 Extensions

4.6.1 Installation of wall modules

To install the wall modules DRM-884VP, ...VAP and ...IOP:
1) Guide the connection cable through the housing from the rear .
2) Make the connections on the rear of the module .
3) Screw the housing to the wall .
4) Place the module in the housing and fasten with the two screws .
5) Place the cover frame on the module so that it engages .

4.6.2 Volume control DRM-884VP

Use a CAT-5e network cable (or a cable of higher category) to con-
nect the input jack (a) on the rear of DRM-884VP to one of the two
RD ports (11) . The maximum cable length is 100 m .

4.6.3 Volume control with audio output DRM-884VAP

Use a CAT-5e network cable (or a cable of higher category) to connect
the RJ45 jack (c) on the rear of DRM-884VAP to one of the two RD
ports (11) . The maximum cable length is 100 m .

Connect the two audio outputs (d = OUT 9/11, e = OUT 10/12), for
example, to the inputs of amplifiers or active speakers . The output
signals are balanced .

4.6.4 Connection extension DRM-884IOP

Use a CAT-5e network cable (or a cable of higher category) to connect
the RJ45 jack (h) on the rear of DRM-884IOP to one of the two RD
ports (11) . The maximum cable length is 100 m .
