Data collection using BCU commands and HCM
Support Save differences
Following are differences in data collection for the HCM, BCU, and browser applications of
bfa_supportsave:
NOTE
HCM Master logs and Application logs are saved when Support Save is initiated through HCM, but
not through the BCU command.

Collecting adapter data using HCM

Select an adapter from the HCM device tree and click the Properties tab in the right pane to display
basic information about the adapter. Depending on whether you select an HBA or CNA, the
following displays:
Use the adapter Properties panel in HCM to display information about the adapter. To display this
panel, use the following steps.
1. Launch HCM.
2. Select an adapter in the device tree
3. Click the Properties tab in the right pane.

Collecting adapter data using BCU commands

BCU runs in two modes:

BCU - Collects driver-related logs, HCM Agent information, and configuration files.
DCFM - Collects only driver-related logs and configuration files.
Browser - Collects driver-related and HCM Agent logs and configuration files.
HCM - Collects HCM application data, driver information, HCM Agent logs, and configuration
files.
The Host Bus Adapter (HBA) Properties panel displays HBA and driver information about the
adapter, such as its WWN, vital product data (VPD), manufactured date code (MDC),
engineering date code (EDC), power rating
temperature, maximum speed supported, installed driver name, driver version, firmware
version, hardware path, and BIOS version. This panel also displays PCI information for the
adapter, such as vendor ID, device ID, current number of lanes, and PCI generation.
The Converged Network Adapter (CNA) Properties panel displays CNA and driver information
about the adapter, such as the MAC address, model number, enabled or disabled status,
maximum speed supported, hardware path, serial number, temperature, installed driver name,
driver version, firmware version, and BIOS version. This panel also displays PCI information for
the adapter, such as vendor ID, device ID, current number of lanes, and PCI generation.
Direct mode, where you type a BCU command at your operating system command prompt. For
example:
bcu fabric --stats <port_id>
Shell mode, accessed using the bcu shell. For example:
bcu> fabric --stats <port_id>
