3.2.3.1.3 – Alarms Configuration Menu
INFORMATION: See electrical diagram for alarm hardware configuration.
The following sections provide information about the software configuration of system alarms. Please consult the
analyzer wiring diagram for additional details about the alarm hardware configuration.
Configurable alarms allow the user to set lower and upper measurement threshold alarms, allocate alarm limits to relays
and configure alarm timings. All alarms are recorded in the system logs for complete traceability. The following
sections will provide a functional overview of the Alarm Configuration menus. For additional system log information see
Section 4 – System Logs and Troubleshooting p. 61.
The OIW analyzer has 2 configurable alarm types:
1.
Measurement alarms (for the selected unit of measurement) and
2.
System alarms.
3.2.3.1.3.1 – Measurement Alarms
INFORMATION: Measurement alarms correspond to the user defined measurement unit.
Measurement alarms provide the user with warnings to indicate measurement values have exceeded either the upper or
lower set threshold limits. Figure 53 below of the 'Measurement Alarms' menu shows the menu options and the 'Alarm
Settings' box in the 'Configurations Setting' display area. Measurement alarm configuration options (when enabled or
disabled) are displayed in the 'Configurations Setting' display area for quick reference.
Figure 53: Measurement Alarms configuration menu and configuration settings display area.
The 'Enable Alarm Threshold 1' box must be ticked to enable and edit this feature. If a second limit is required then the
'Enable Alarm Threshold 2' box can be selected (note: 'Enable Alarm Threshold 1' must be enabled first before the second
alarm threshold can be selected). Limits are set using the numerical up / down arrows in the threshold box and
displayed in the 'Configurations Setting' display area as shown above in Figure 53. Relays can be allocated to trigger
when alarm threshold 1 is crossed. The user can select a relay, all or none from the drop down list at the bottom of the
menu. The dry contact relay can, for example, activate an audible alarm in the control room, open/close a valve to
reroute the process flow or any other user requirement (set up at the time of installation) to indicate an alarm status.
