Towing a Vehicle
with Autom atic Transmission
The vehicle may be tow ed w ith ail of
the w heels on the g ro u n d and the
s e le cto r lever in p o sitio n " N " fo r
distances up to 120 km/75 m iles and
at a speed not to exceed 50 km /h/
30 mph.
To po sitively avoid a p o s s ib ility of
dam age to the tra n sm issio n , h ow ­
ever, we recom m end to d is c o n n e c t
the drive sh a ft at the rear axle drive
fla n g e on any to w in g beyond a
sh o rt to w to a nearby garage.

Jump Starting

If th e b a tte ry is d ischa rg e d the e n ­
g ine can be started w ith ju m p e r
cables (m in im u m cable cross sec­
tio n is 35 m m 2) and the (12 V) bat­
tery o f a n o th e r vehicle. Proceed as
fo llo w s :
1. T urn key to steering lo c k p o si­
tio n 0.
2. First c o n n e c t ju m p e r cables to
the p o sitive ba tte ry te rm in a ls and
then to the negative term inals.
3. S tart and run e ng ine o f ju m p e r
ve h icle at h igh idle.
4. S tart e n g ine o f the disabled ve hi­
cle in th e usual m anner.
5. A fte r the e n gine has started, firs t
rem ove ju m p e r cables fro m the
negative battery te rm in a ls and
then fro m the p ositive term in a ls.
In s tru c tio n s :
A d isch a rg e d battery can freeze
at a pp ro x. - 10° C /+14° F. In all
cases it m ust be thaw ed o u t before
ju m p e r cables are used.

away fro m battery, i.e . im p ro p e r
co n n e c tio n o f ju m p e r cables,
cig a re tte sm okin g , etc..
