Steering Lock

S te e rin g is locke d w hen the key
is w ith d ra w n and the stee ring
lo c k is engaged. The key can be
w ith d ra w n o n ly in zero p o sitio n .
Note:
Do not rem ove key fro m steering
lo c k w h ile the v eh icle is in m o­
tio n as th is w ill cause the en­
g a g e m e n t o f the ste erin g lock
th u s re n d e rin g the ve h icle in o p ­
erable.

A w a rn in g buzzer sounds when the
key has been le ft in steering lock
p o s itio n s 1 o r 0 and the d riv e r's
d o o r is opened.
W ith th e en g ine at idle speed, the
c h a rg in g rate o f the a lte rn a to r (o u t­
put) is lim ited.
It is th e re fo re recom m ended to turn
o ff unnecessary e le ctrica l co n su m ­
ers w h ile d riv in g in stop and go tra f­
fic. T his p re ca u tio n helps to avoid
d ra in in g o f th e battery.
U nnecessary stra in on the battery
and c h a rg in g system may be
m inim ize d by tu rn in g o ff the fo llo w ­
ing p o w e r consum ers, fo r exam ple:
H eater in heated seats, rear w in d o w
d efroster.
