2.3.5 Original Size Initial Identification (cross-feed
direction)
0006-2258
The machine uses the original width volume (VR1) located inside the original tray for
original size initial identification (cross-fee direction). The original width volume operates
in conjunction with the slide guide, and its resistance shows analog variations. The ADF
controller refers to the changes in its resistance arriving at it in the form of the original size
signal (VR) to identify the size in cross-feed direction.
To make sure that the machine always correctly identifies the width of an original in relation
to A4R (210 mm in width) and LTRR (216 mm in width), it uses a special A4R/LTRR
sensor (PI5) located inside the original tray. The A4R/LTRR sensor generates A4R/LTRR
identification signal=1 when the original being checked is 197 mm or more but less than
214 mm in width.
