CD
•Outer starter clutch

b. Tighten:
•Bolts@
24 Nm (2.4 ni•kg, 17 ft•lb)
LOCTITE®
Stake Over the End of the Bolt
c. Install:
•Spring
•Spring cap
•Ball@
•Idle gear@
•Collar®
Starter Clutch Shaft
1. Check:
•Shaft
CD
Wear
I
Damage-+ Replace.
•Bearing
~
Unsmooth operation-+Replace.
CLUTCH
1. Inspect:
•Clutch housing dogs
CD
Cracks/ Pitting (edges):
Moderate-+ Deburr.
Severe-+ Replace clutch housing.
NOTE:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~­
Pitting on friction plate dogs of clutch housing
will cause erratic operation.
2. Inspect:
•Clutch housing bearing
Damage-+ Replace.
