Tools and Troubleshooting

Tools offered through the VPN Concentrator web configuration GUI and Command Line
Interface (CLI) can be used to troubleshoot the system. Sometimes you need to use both
the web interface and the CLI to debug a problem. The CLI can be accessed through Serial
interface, SSH, or Telnet.
5.1.1

Connecting to the CLI

Follow these guidelines when connecting to the CLI:
1. Use a straight-through or null modem cable to connect to the console port of the VPN
Concentrator (Note: The 5300LF and 5300LF2 models use a null modem cable).
2. Use a terminal emulator such as HyperTerminal set to a baud rate of 9600, 8 data bits, 1
stop bit, NONE for flow control. Alternatively, you can connect to the VPN
Concentrator remotely using SSH.
3. Log on as root and enter the password provided by ShoreTel support.
