protocol, although sometimes the Philips protocol can be used. For two-
wire (Up0) systems any of these protocol can be used, ask the
manufacturer of your Up0 telephone system for details about the
protocol used if you do not know. If you use the wrong protocol the
Single Digital will not start recording and/or your telephone does not
work.

Audio Detect Settings
This setting concerns the level of the signal above which the recorder
will automatically start to record. Only when the Start method has been
set to Audio, the following is shown in the display:

A signal beyond the 'S' is sufficient to start a recording. So, the 'S'
indicates the minimum signal level necessary for recordings to start. The
'X' indicates the stop level. Recording stops again when the signal stays
below the 'X' for a certain time (manufacturer's setting is 10 seconds;
