CHAPTER 8 - EXTERNAL WIRING
NOTICE
The use of power stealing thermostats which
draw their power from the PRESTIGE Excellence
can lead to erratic or unpredictable operation.
8.8.

Outdoor Sensor Wiring

The Outdoor Reset function and Warm Weather Shut-
down (WWSD) features require the connection of the
included outdoor temperature sensor. See Chapter 12
on page 59 for outdoor sensor installation and setup.
8.9.

Domestic Hot Water Wiring

An indirect water heater sensor is prewired to low volt-
age terminals X4-1&2 located at the bottom of the ACV-
Max Control module as shown in Fig. 18 on page 32.

8.10. Additional Boiler Limits

Additional boiler limits (High Temperature Limit, LWCO,
etc.) can be wired into either the Manual Reset Limit or
Auto Reset Limit terminals of the PRESTIGE Excellence.
These limit connections will provide a "hard" lockout re-
quiring a manual reset of the PRESTIGE Excellence or a
"soft" lockout in which the PRESTIGE Excellence will au-
tomatically reset when the limit resets.
A Manual Reset External Limit Open (E87) lockout will
occur anytime the manual reset terminals are open. An
Auto Reset External Limit Open (76) lockout will not oc-
cur until just before ignition when the auto reset termi-
nals are open. The Auto Reset terminals should be used
for any type of burner interlock such as a combustion
air louver or water flow proving switch.
NOTICE
The Manual Reset Limit and Auto Reset
Limit terminals are located on the lower
right corner of the ACVMax control module
housing.
Manual Reset Limit and Auto Reset Limit
connections to the PRESTIGE Excellence re-
quire a dry contact with no external voltage
present. Ensure no external voltage is pres-
ent on each set of wires before connecting
to the PRESTIGE Excellence. If external volt-
age is present, the use of an isolation relay
is required to prevent damage to the ACV-
Max controller.
1. Remove the factory-installed brown jumper wire at
the Manual Reset Limit terminals that will accept
the additional boiler limit.
2. Remove the factory-installed orange jumper wire at
the Auto Reset Limit terminals that will accept the
additional boiler limit.
3. Connect the external limit wires to the Manual Re-
set Limit or Auto Reset Limit low voltage terminals
located on the lower right corner of the ACVMax
control module housing as shown in Fig. 18 on
page 32.

8.11. External Modulation Control

The PRESTIGE Excellence firing rate can be controlled
by an external modulating boiler controller. See Chap-
ter 13 on page 61 for external modulation signal wir-
ing and setup.

8.12. System Sensor Wiring

An optional system temperature sensor can be placed
on the central heating loop to control the temperature
in the central heating loop instead of the boiler loop.
When connected, the PRESTIGE Excellence will auto-
matically modulate to maintain the target temperature
in the central heating loop. The boiler supply tempera-
ture sensor will continue to be used as a high tempera-
ture limit.
CAUTION
Locate the system temperature sensor
where it can accurately measure the supply
temperature to the heating system. Inaccu-
rate system temperature readings could lead
to overheating or under heating resulting in
property damage.
1. Connect the system temperature sensor wires to
low voltage terminals X5-3&4 located at the bot-
tom of the ACVMax control module as shown in
Fig. 18 on page 32.
