2. BLEEDING THE REAR WHEEL BRAKES

Proceed as follows:
1. Check the brake liquid level in the equalizing tank. If necessary, add new liquid to
achieve the maximum level.
2. Slide a hose onto the bleeding screw (2) of the cylinder after removing the spring
cap and immerse the other end of the hose to the bottom of a transparent con-
tainer partly filled with the brake liquid (3). The bleeding screw must be perma-
nently under pressure to avoid aeration of the brake system through its threads.
In this step place the container at least 300 mm above the bleeding screw.
3. Release the bleeding screw by 1/4 turn at the most.
4. The bleeding procedure is the same as described in the Note (see page 188).
5. Completely depress the pedal that is not blocked with the gauge and tighten the
bleeding screw,
6. Release the brake pedal and repeat the procedure until air bubbles stop escaping
from the hose.
