4. BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC BRAKES OF A TRAILER

Proceed as follows:
1. Fill up the missing volume of brake liquid in the equalizing tank to the maximum
quantity.
2. Remove the cap from the bleeding screw (2) of the hydraulic control valve (1) of
the trailer positioned on the left front holder of the cab silent-block.
3. Slide a hose onto the screw and immerse its other end to the bottom of a trans-
parent container (3) partly filled with the brake liquid. Place the container at least
300 mm above the bleeding screw. The screw must be permanently under pres-
sure to avoid aeration of the brake system through its thread.
4. Release the bleeding screw by 1/4 turn at the most.
5. Depress the connected brake pedals to the stop and tighten the bleeding screws.
6. Release the brake pedals and repeat the procedure until air bubbles stop escap-
ing from the hose.
