PCA Program – Epidural Mode
The epidural mode is a variation of the PCA Protocol mode with 2 main
differences: the Air in line and back pressure detection operate differently
than in other programs.
Air in Line Alarm
There is a choice in air detection system to
disable the air in line alarm when Epidural
mode is ON. When pump operates in Epidural
mode, the display will show every 8 seconds
either the message "Epidural mode, air sensor
disabled" or "Epidural mode, air sensor
enabled".
Pressure Sensor
In both Bolus mode (bolus request by user and MD bolus) and during
flushing, the operation rate will vary as a result of the pressure sensor
reading.
In case that the back pressure will rise above a preset border, the Bolus
and flushing operation rate will go down to maintain a preset
backpressure.
This system may increase operation time, but protect the patient from
high back pressure infusion.
F
During Epidural mode, pressure limit will be 20 psi, with
Note:
no regards to the pressure setting. In case that although
the rate was adjusted the pressure reach 20 psi an alarm
will be activated.
After exit from Epidural mode, pump will automatically
return to operate according to the pressure setting.
Setting Epidural mode to ON
Whenever the user chooses to modify a
program (using code 008), the epidural mode
will be set to OFF. Use arrows key to change
the setting to ON and approve using the
START/OK key.
