Additional requirements for ABB motors of types other than M2_, M3_, M4_, HX_
and AM_
Use the selection criteria given for non-ABB motors.

Additional requirements for the braking applications

When the motor brakes the machinery, the intermediate circuit DC voltage of the drive
increases, the effect being similar to increasing the motor supply voltage by up to
20 percent. Consider this voltage increase when specifying the motor insulation
requirements if the motor will be braking a large part of its operation time.
Example: Motor insulation requirement for a 400 V AC line voltage application must be
selected as if the drive were supplied with 480 V.

Additional requirements for ABB high-output and IP23 motors

The rated output power of high-output motors is higher than what is stated for the
particular frame size in EN 50347 (2001).
This table shows the requirements for protecting the motor insulation and bearings in drive
systems for ABB random-wound motor series (for example, M3AA, M3AP and M3BP).
