Power Switch
The power switch (I/O), mounted on the rear of the
modem, is used to turn the modem on or off. Each time
you turn on the modem, it runs a series of diagnostic tests.
After successfully completing the tests, the modem loads
the configuration parameters previously stored in its
nonvolatile memory into random access memory (RAM),
and the modem ready (MR) LED turns on.
Modem Configuration Requirements
If
you connected the modem directly to a terminal, you
can enter the commands from the keyboard. When the
modem is connected to a personal computer, use its data
communications software or a terminal emulation
program to configure and use the modem.
If you intend to use the modem with a mainframe
computer or other serial device that accepts only
incoming calls, you can use a terminal (or personal
computer with a terminal emulation program) to
preconfigure the modem's operating parameters and save
them in nonvolatile memory.
Prestored Configurations
3-4
The WorldBlazer modem contains pre stored
configurations that address a wide range of applications.
Before choosing a prestored configuration, decide which
configuration meets the requirements of your system.
You can select the prestored configurations from the front
panel or by using the &F commands described in
Table 3-2.
