Power Switch
The power switch (I/O), mounted on the rear of the
modem, is used to turn the modem on or off. Each
time you turn on the modem, it runs a series of
diagnostic tests. After successfully completing the
tests, the modem loads the configuration parameters
previously stored in its nonvolatile memory into its
registers, and the MR (Modem Ready) LED lights.
Modem Configuration Requirements
If
you connected the modem directly to a terminal,
input the commands from the keyboard. When the
modem is connected to a computer, use its data
communications software or a terminal emulation
program to configure and use the modem.
If you intend to use the modem with a mainframe
computer or other serial device that accepts only
incoming calls, you can use a terminal (or personal
computer with a terminal emulation program) to
preconfigure the modem's operating parameters and
save them in nonvolatile memory.
Prestored Configurations
The T3000 modem contains fifteen prestored
configurations. These configurations address a wide
range of applications. Before choosing your
application, decide which configuration meets the
requirements of your system.
