External modem The 61000 is connected for modem operation by installation of an optional external
land-based modem device and connection of the local telephone line to the RJ-45
10BaseT communications port. Model 61MDM external modem is available in
Dranetz-BMI as an optional accessory for the 61000.
Modem communication is also possible through wireless communication.The 61000
supports GSM and GPRS service by installing the optional 61GSM-US or 61GSM-EU
wireless modems. GSM is a global modem communication system that can support
data rates of about 9kbps. GPRS is an added service to GSM that can increase the data
rate to about 40kbps.
The communication service is provided by user, not by Dranetz-BMI.
Reference guide Remote operation instructions to configure the Encore 61000 DataNode for modem
communications are described in the next section. The procedure describes operation of
the 61000 with all connections being made correctly and the unit fully operational.
