SIMATIC PCS 7 OSx 4.1.2 Operator
If a Report Editor or a BCL or RDT Program Administration dialog box
remains on the screen during multiple role changes involving the primary,
and the operator reselects the original primary to become the new primary,
the system can fail to mount the primary's history file system. The system
indicates this by displaying the message
point, access to trend and report outputs is no longer supported on the
station displaying the Report Editor or the BCL or RDT Program
Administration dialog box.
The operator can prevent this situation by exiting the Report Editor or the
BCL or RDT Program Administration dialog box before selecting the
original primary as the new primary. If the situation does occur, the
operator needs to exit the Report Editor or the BCL or RDT Program
Administration dialog box, and resynchronize the station.
The operator should not use BCL or RDT Program Administration during a
role change to a new primary. Normally, the OSx system prevents this;
however, under heavily loaded conditions, the operator may be able to start
BCL or RDT Program Administration before the system has propagated the
start of the role change to all stations.
If the operator attempts to do a role change while a report, BCL program, or
RDT program is executing, the role change may fail. This is because OSx
waits a period of time for BCL/RDT programs to go idle and for reports to
complete execution. In this event, wait 1--2 minutes and try the role change
again. Refer to
Section 1.3
restrictions.
When you are using the Remote Data Transfer (RDT) feature, and you lose
communication with the remote database, the system takes data that it
usually writes to the remote database and buffers it on the primary and on
the backup. If you change the primary role to a station other than the
backup before communication to the remote database is restored, you will
lose the buffered data. This also means that you cannot change a station
with the sysadmin role to primary during this situation without losing the
buffered data.
If the operator attempts to start a BCL program or an RDT program while a
role change is in progress, the program does not begin execution until after
the role change is complete. Scheduled reports do not execute while a role
change is in progress, nor do they execute after the role change is complete
until the next scheduled time or event.
