Crankpin Bearing Selection - Honda CTX700N/ND Service Manual

CRANKSHAFT / PISTON /CYLINDER
Install the crankpin bearing caps [ 1 ]
.
NOTICE
Be sure to
install each
part
in its original position
, as
noted during removal
.
Do not reuse connecting rods
and bearing caps that have been improperly installed
,
because their mating surfaces will be damaged .
•
Align the I . D . code number
on the connecting rods
.
Align

Use the removed
crankpin bearing
cap bolts when
checking the oil
clearance
.
Apply engine oil
to
the crankpin bearing cap bolt ( reuse )
threads and seating surfaces .
Install and tighten the crankpin bearing cap bolts [ 1 ] to
the specified torque in 2 or 3 steps alternately
.
Further tighten the bolts 90 ° .
TORQUE : 10 N m ( 1.0 kgf
- m , 7 lbf - ft ) + 90 °
Remove the bearing caps and measure the
compressed plastigauge at its widest point on the
crankpin to determine the oil clearance
.
SERVICE LIMIT : 0.05 mm ( 0.002 in )
If the oil clearance exceeds the service limit
, select
the
correct replacement bearings .
