Adding or Removing Memory Modules (DIMMs)

To add or remove a set of memory modules (DIMMs) to a bank, see Figure 3-6 and follow
this procedure:
1. Turn off your system and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
2. Unlock and remove the screw that secures the top cover and remove the cover, as
described earlier in this chapter.
3. To remove a DIMM, push back the latches

straight up
and rotate DIMM to insure proper fit into DIMM connector slot. Install the DIMM
into the socket by inserting connecting end of the DIMM, straight down into the
socket until the two latches engage and lock. Refer to Figure 3-6. Repeat this
process for all four DIMMs.
